Family Support-Mathieu

Marie Vena once lived a stable life with her husband and six children. She ran a small business while her husband worked at a national cement factory. Together, they were able to meet the needs of their family and live comfortably.

But everything changed on April 19, 2023, when armed groups attacked the area. Homes were burned, businesses were destroyed, and many lives were lost. Vena and her family fled with nothing—not even a change of clothes.

They arrived, near Cazale, along with a group of 21 others. The small house they shared was overcrowded, and daily meals were uncertain. Vena, once self-sufficient, found herself overwhelmed by the harsh conditions, and her health began to suffer under the stress.

Recognizing her need, RHFH stepped in to help her rent a home and restart a business. With support, she began selling second-hand clothes, a small but steady source of income that now helps feed her family and send her children to school.

Vena shares her gratitude with joy—her family has a place to call home, a way to provide for themselves, and a fresh start in a new community. She says, “We’re living more comfortably now, and for that, I’m truly thankful.”
