We are very thankful for the proper functioning of the lab at our clinic, which played an important role in helping save the life of Brinelson, a 13-month-old boy.
Brinelson was transferred from a hospital in the Fond-Baptiste area, about 15 hours away. When he arrived, he was in very poor health—unable to sit or stand. He was severely malnourished, weighing only 14 pounds. A lab test showed that his hemoglobin level was just 2.3 g, which is dangerously low.
Thanks to our lab, we quickly saw how serious his condition was and transferred him to a hospital for a blood transfusion. It wasn’t easy to find blood right away, but our team worked hard to make sure he got what he needed. He spent eight days at the hospital before returning to the clinic for follow-up care.
We continued his treatment for about a month. His mother also received help and advice on how to feed and care for him at home. Today, Brinelson weighs 20 pounds, his hemoglobin level is 13 g, and he can now sit up by himself. His mother is happy to see him looking strong and healthy.
This was all possible because of the support of our donors. Your generosity keeps our lab running and helps us care for children like Brinelson. Thank you for making a real difference.
