Clinic Story-Guerlens

Guerlens was born prematurely at just seven months. Sadly, only ten hours after his birth, his mother passed away from complications related to eclampsia. She had been a mother of seven and received care in a public hospital, but the severity of her condition made recovery impossible.

After birth, Guerlens was placed in an incubator to receive early care. While his family grieved the loss of his mother, another challenge quickly emerged. Just days later, armed violence forced Guerlens and his father to leave their area for safety. They sought temporary refuge in nearby gardens, where they spent three nights sleeping outside. Without access to infant formula, Guerlens began to show signs of malnutrition.

Despite these early challenges, his father remained dedicated. After returning home, he tried to provide for Guerlens and his siblings on a construction worker’s income but struggled to afford the special milk Guerlens needed.

Eventually, a friend told him about our clinic and the infant formula program we offer for families in need. Although the clinic is about an hour and a half away, Guerlens’ father made the journey and shared their story. We were able to provide him with Nestogeno formula and enroll Guerlens in our monthly follow-up program.

Now, Guerlens receives regular health checkups and a steady supply of infant formula to support his growth. His father continues to make the trip each month and expresses his gratitude often.

We’re hopeful for Guerlens’ future and grateful to be part of his journey forward.
