Elucia is a 56-year-old woman from, a rural community located about five hours from the clinic. One day, while fetching water, she slipped on a rock while lowering a full bucket from her head, resulting in a serious foot fracture.

Her husband was working in a distant garden at the time, so neighbors helped reach him. When he returned, they prepared for the long journey to the clinic. Initially, they tried using a mule, but the pain was too great for Elucia. Eventually, with the help of neighbors, she was transported on a homemade stretcher. She left home around 3 p.m. and arrived at the clinic at 8 p.m.

Upon arrival, she received pain medication and spent two days at the clinic for initial treatment. She was then referred to a larger hospital for surgery, with all costs—transport, medication, and care—covered by the clinic. After healing from an open wound, surgery was successfully performed.

Following the procedure, Elucia returned to the clinic, where she continued receiving meals, dressing changes, and rest during her recovery. All services were provided free of charge.

Today, Elucia is walking again and resuming her normal activities. She’s thankful for the support she received and grateful to the donors who make this care possible.
