Clinic Story-Sianie

At 63 years old, Sianie lives with her husband and their eight children in a small rural community in Haiti. The family depends on farming, growing just enough to survive. Every day, under the blazing sun, Sianie works with her hands in the soil — because she must. Her strength and perseverance are remarkable, but behind her quiet determination lies a daily battle with illness.

For years, she lived with symptoms she didn’t understand — constant fatigue, dizziness, and weakness. Without access to proper healthcare, she tried home remedies and market medicines, but nothing helped. Then one day, an unexpected accident changed everything. After a motorcycle crash left her hospitalized and bedridden for two months, her health worsened drastically. When she finally reached our clinic, the tests revealed the truth — her blood sugar was dangerously high.

Since that day, Sianie has returned faithfully to the clinic every month for follow-up visits. The journey isn’t easy — a long, two-hour trip each way, often on foot when she cannot afford a motorcycle taxi. The roads are rough, sometimes muddy, but she never gives up. At each visit, she receives free medication, care, and encouragement from our clinic team, who remind her that she is not alone in this fight.

Living with diabetes is a lifelong challenge, but Sianie’s courage shines through the struggle. Her story reflects the strength of so many Haitian families who face illness and poverty with unshakable faith and perseverance.

This November, we pause to say thank you to our donors who make care like this possible. Because of your generosity, Sianie can continue her treatment, find hope in her healing, and keep caring for her family. Your support brings light to places where despair once lived — and for that, we are deeply grateful. 💛
