Clinic Story-Minel

There’s a man named Minel, he’s 33, and he lives in a little community, just about a twenty-minute walk from our clinic. Every morning before the sun even rises, he grabs his hoe, throws it over his shoulder, and heads out to the fields. Farming is all he knows — it’s how he keeps his family going. His wife and their four kids — three girls and one boy — depend on him for everything: food, school, clothes, and just surviving each day.

But for months, something wasn’t right. Minel kept getting these headaches, heart racing, and even trouble breathing. He knew his body was trying to tell him something, but he ignored it. “If I stop working, who will feed the kids?” he told his wife. So, he pushed through — day after day — no matter how bad he felt.

He tried everything he could find: herbs, roots, old remedies passed down for generations. Nothing worked. The pain just got worse. His wife, who comes to our clinic for her checkups, saw him getting weaker and finally convinced him to go with her one day.

When he got there, the nurses checked his blood pressure — and it was high. This helped explain at lot of his issues. . It wasn’t just his body under pressure; it was the weight of his whole life. The doctor treated him, gave him medicine, and explained what was happening. For the first time, Minel realized he couldn’t just keep pushing his body forever. Even the land he’s worked for years could turn against him if he doesn’t take care of himself.

Now, Minel comes to the clinic every month for follow-ups. He still gets up before dawn because he has no other choice — his family depends on him.

You wouldn’t know by looking at him how much he’s fighting. His hands are rough, his face calm, but every visit to the clinic tells a story — the story of a man trying to stay standing so the people he loves don’t fall.
