Staff Story-

Each day at our nutrition center, we care for children whose health reflects the challenges many families face, including poverty, food insecurity, and limited access to resources. One of these children was Yvenson, an 11-month-old baby from Maille, a remote area far from our center.

During her pregnancy, Yvenson’s mother made every effort to attend prenatal visits despite the distance. After his birth, however, the family struggled to provide enough nutritious food. When Yvenson arrived at the center, he was extremely weak and severely malnourished. His skin was peeling, and after initial treatment, his condition worsened with grade 3+ edema and oral fungal infections that made swallowing difficult.

Yvenson was admitted for specialized care and his mothers stayed with him during his care. His treatment included medications, therapeutic milk, nutritious foods, and Medika Mamba. Because of his condition, a feeding tube was needed at first.

Over nearly two months, our team cared for him daily, providing medical treatment, nutrition, hygiene, and playtime. Gradually, Yvenson improved. He began eating on his own, the swelling decreased, and he gained weight.

Today, Yvenson has recovered and returned home healthy and strong. His mother shared her gratitude for the care her son received. We are thankful to our donors, whose support makes healing stories like Yvenson’s possible.
