Staff Story

My name is Edine. I am a mother of three children and a foster mother in the Children of Hope Program. About four years ago, I welcomed Geraldine, a child with a disability, into my home. From the very first day, I saw her as a blessing. I believe God placed her in my path so I could love and care for her.

Today, I consider Geraldine my fourth child. I love her just as I love my own children. Being part of this program means giving a child the love, care, and attention she may not have received before. It means helping her feel that she truly belongs in our family.

The monthly support I receive for Geraldine helps me care for her and also support my other children, especially since their father is not always able to help as he should. Since she joined our family, my life feels more stable, organized, and full of hope.

I have seen many improvements in Geraldine. Before, I did everything for her. Now she can hold her own bottle and drink water by herself. After her bath, when I put her to bed, she is happy, smiling, and playful. That brings me great joy.

When I leave the house and return, she recognizes my voice and becomes excited. She responds when I speak to her, and I can see how safe and secure she feels.

Caring for a child with a disability has changed me. It has taught me patience, compassion, and strength. Even on difficult days, I care for her with joy because I know this work has great value.

Having Geraldine in my home is a blessing for both of us. She brings love, hope, and happiness into my life. Thank you for trusting me to be her foster mother.
