Twenty-seven-year-old Kensley lived with his wife and their two children, working hard every day to provide for his family’s education and basic needs. Life wasn’t easy, but determination and perseverance carried them through.

Then, one ordinary act of kindness changed everything.

While visiting his mother, Kensley climbed onto a chair to help her adjust a curtain. The chair gave way beneath him, and he fell hard to the ground. The impact shattered his left arm, leaving him in severe pain and unable to work.

At the local hospital, doctors placed his arm in a temporary support and referred him elsewhere for surgery. But when he arrived, he faced an impossible reality: he simply could not afford the operation. With no way to pay, he returned home still injured — carrying both physical pain and a growing fear about what his future would look like.

For an entire month, Kensley endured the injury with no treatment in sight. As the primary provider for his family, he feared losing the ability to work, to care for his wife and children, to be the person they depended on.

Then someone told him about our clinic.

Kensley came to us searching for hope. After listening to his story, our team acted quickly. We arranged imaging studies to fully evaluate the injury and confirmed just how serious the fracture was. Soon after, we transferred him to a hospital with orthopedic specialists who could provide the surgery he so desperately needed.

Thanks entirely to donor support, every aspect of Kensley’s care was covered. Our team stayed with him throughout the process — about a week spent coordinating his treatment and recovery. Surgeons repaired his arm, placing a metal plate and stabilization device to restore the damaged bone and give him the best possible chance at regaining full function.

When Kensley returned to our clinic, his healing continued under close care. Every two days, our nurses changed his dressings and monitored his progress. He received medication to manage pain and prevent infection, along with the follow-up care needed to make sure the surgery held.

Today, a metal plate remains in his arm, but the external stabilization device has been removed. Most importantly, Kensley is back to his normal life. He’s working again. He’s providing for his family again. And he’s looking toward the future with confidence instead of fear.

Looking back, Kensley said that after leaving the first hospital, he had lost all hope. He knew he’d never be able to afford the surgery on his own. In his darkest moments, he feared he might permanently lose the use of his arm — and with it, his ability to provide for his children.

Everything changed when he arrived at our clinic.

“There was hope here,” he told us. “I received the surgery I needed without having to pay anything because RHFH covered all the costs. I thought my future was slipping away, but now I can use my arm again and continue caring for my family.”
