Today, I would like to share the story of Luckson Vilneus, a man who has endured more hardship than most of us can imagine — and who has found healing and hope through it all.
Some time ago, Luckson lost one of his children during the cholera outbreak, despite the tireless efforts of our medical team to save her. It was a devastating loss for him and his family. In the months and years that followed, RHFH continued to stand beside Luckson, offering support and walking alongside him however we could.
In recent years, Luckson developed a painful hernia that made everyday life increasingly difficult. He underwent surgery at two different hospitals, but neither procedure resolved the problem. The pain persisted, and it kept him from caring for his family the way he wanted to.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, RHFH was able to refer Luckson to another hospital for a third surgery. This time, the operation was successful.
After the surgery, Luckson returned to our clinic, where our doctors and nurses provided careful, attentive follow-up care. His wound was cleaned and dressed daily. His recovery was closely monitored, and he received every medication he needed. Because the incision required extra time to heal completely, Luckson remained under our care for several weeks until the wound had fully closed.
Today, Luckson is feeling much better and has regained hope for the future. He is deeply grateful to RHFH and to every donor whose generosity made his treatment possible. Without that support, he could never have afforded such a costly surgery.
Luckson’s story is a powerful reminder that compassion and faithful giving truly transform lives. Thank you for making healing and hope possible for families like his.
