Improving Sanitation in Cazale

In 2014, GVADK conducted a community assessment and discovered that many families in Cazale and surrounding communities did not have access to proper sanitation facilities. Because many residents depended on nearby rivers and streams for water, improving sanitation was an important step toward protecting both families and local water sources.

With financial support from a dedicated partner, GVADK began a latrine construction project. Because resources were limited, latrines were often shared by several nearby families, allowing the project to benefit as many people as possible.

Between 2014 and 2015, latrines were constructed in Cazale, Germain, Bethel, and Grand-Fond, as well as at schools, churches, marketplaces, and along public roads.

The project helped encourage healthier sanitation practices, cleaner surroundings, and better protection of local water sources. Today, many families have sanitation facilities of their own, and the community continues to benefit from the changes.
