The numbers are high, but things seem under control.  There are not enough beds and some have slept in chairs or on the ground for a night or two.  Despite the crowded, noisy, and busy environment, there is a peace, joy and hope like none other.  Our staff are working so very hard and are doing a fantastic job!  There have been no deaths despite the high nurse-to-pt ratio.  Patients are helping one another and making jokes to lighten the day and pass the time.  We have 2 organizations in the works to give donations tomorrow.  PTL!!!!!  Dad went to town to purchase needed items today.  Enoch and dad both ran multiple trips up and down the hill from the clinic to the cholera house.  Licia and I organized, made list, and restocked a couple of times through the day as the staff were doing pt care.  I was starting to go into nurse Rambo mode a bit today. (inside joke for some of you)  MANY, MANY gallons of water were used today and it all has to be carried or hauled up to the cholera house.  New staff began training today.  The wash lady was smiling BIG today because she has help now.  Hand washing 5 garbage bags of linens a day is HARD work!  Licia and I gathered supplies several times from every nook and cranny around here (there are alot!) to take up.  One of our needs is 24g angiocath.  These are the tiny needles used to get into the tiny veins of the smallest cholera pts.  Dr. Jen brought in lots with her this last week.  We only had a couple left in the box and these were a real life-saver.  We are going to conserve these the best we can, but with so many little one, we seem to be going through them quickly.  Well, Licia & I were looking in the storage depot for some tubing and found a box with a sack of about 50 today!  Yanick (works in the dressing/procedure room) knows all the boxes in the depot…….but she had never seen that one!  🙂  Shocked, but happy, she just shook her head in amazement.  GOD PROVIDES!!!!!!!!!!!  Even in the tiniest things.  In the darkest hour, He comes shining through once again.  As my mom always said (she passed away was promoted 6 years ago today), TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!
