Things are getting more serious here in Cazale with the Cholera outbreak.  There were 2 children that died in the RC this AM.  We had 17 other children that were very sick with vomiting and diar.  We were slightly overwhelmed  .  God is with us in the mist of all this.  We have a team here from ACWAM. There are 9 of them.  They have been sitting in the tent with the really sick ones and caring for them.  We have the two wonderful girls from Canada here.  They are a God send to us. And of course Mary is here helping with everything.   All these volunteer are just what we needed this week.  We are so very thank to God.

I wanted to try to explain something to everyone.  We live about a 45 minute drive to the next bigger town.  This town has a center set up for Cholera patients.   Someone asked  “Why don’t you just send them there?”  Well people-we have had several come in that are near death. Over 10 people that we could not even get BP to register on.  One lady was not breathing and we somehow brought her back.  This is a serious illnessthat does not allow for a lot of time to get to a treatment facility.  So many people live back in the mountains and have to walk hours to get medical treatment.  Many are dying because of this.  They just do not have enough time to get help.  We are not doing this because it is fun.  Believe me it is not.   We love our community and they also love and trust us.  God sent us here to Haiti.  He sent us for a specific purpose.  He sent us to show His love.  We could send them away and tell them to go to another place.  But we do not feel like that is what we are supposed to do at this time.  We were not called to sit in the stands and watch.  We have always wanted to be on the front-line doing what we love to do.

In the mist of everything that we normally do we are trying to save as many lives as we can here in Cazale.  Sleep was hard to get in before-now we are happy with a few hours a night. We are so thankful for the volunteer nurses that are here from Heartline and Global Outreach.  Dad has been driving all over Port-au-Prince trying to find supplies.  He is making multiple trips eachday.  We are trying are best to hire staff to help.  We need supplies as well.

To give you an idea of what we need.  It will cost $10US per hour to staff the Cholera house.  This is $240.00US per day.  Each bag of life saving IV fluids is $3.82US.  The average patient will go through 15 bags.  We are going through 15 gallons of bleach a day.  Each gallon is $5.00US.  I am just giving you all an idea of what some of our cost are.  We know that God is and will provide for these needs. We ask each of you to pray for us and those that are ill.  There are two ways that you can give 1) click on the paypal button on the upper right hand corner of the blog  2) send donation to our home office Real Hope For Haiti/P.O. We love each of you and greatly appreciate you.  You have prayed, given and blessed us so much.  We are humbled and so thankful for His grace–which is enough to take us through.
