Clinic patients

The Rescue Center is mostly set up for malnourished kids and babies.  But sometimes other sicknesses come up.  I wrote about Clenor here.  He came in with a huge abcess in his armpit.  His mom and dad were worried.  They did not understand why this was happening.  Dr Jen spent time talking with them and came up with a plan for his care.  Since he lives a 7 hour one way walk away we asked he if might stay with us.  He was very quiet and hardly talked those first days.  By the weekend he was running around with my kids and trying to learn to ride a bike.  It took him a few weeks of daily dressing changes and IV meds to heal.  His dad was very thankful that his son had a place to stay during his treatment time.  We are thankful that God continues to provide.

First day here 🙁    ouch                                                                                  Going home 🙂

Paul came in to the clinic a few weeks ago.  He passed out twice in the line outside while waiting to get admitted.  I happened to be walking through and his mom was very upset and crying.  She was very scared that her son was going to die.  She had no idea what was wrong with him.  Dr Jen looked him over and the nurses did their best to help the mom.  He was treated for Typhoid and Malaria.  It took him several days to begin to feel better.  We were really worried about him.  His mom stayed with him each night.  She also had her little baby girl, that was breastfeeding that stayed with her.  She took very good care of both of her kids.

The nurses and I were able to spend a lot of time with her.  She asked many, many questions about the clinic and the RC.  She saw us everyday working with the kids.  She saw us fighting for little Erline to live.  She saw us bathe and dress her when she died.  She saw us working each clinic day.  She saw alot of our everyday lives. She told Yanick, one of the nurses,  Why does everyone here do so much?   Why do you care so much?  Why do these white people care about us?  Yanick was able to share with her many, many stories.  She was able to talk to her about God.  It was a very good thing.

He went home a week later a happy little boy.

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 59:16 NIV

Praise God! Keep up the good work! You have our prayers here in Iowa. Our church (Timberline Church) has made 3 trips to work with GLA. We would love to come serve your ministry some time. Our heart is to serve in any capacity those who have given their lives to serve in Haiti. We love to share the gospel with the Haitian people, too! We have a couple of nurses who would like to help you as well. Please let us know if we can ever be of service to you!

God bless as you glorify Him!
