Hope is Rising

Originally, the founders, Davis “Zach” Zachary and his wife Gretchen auctioned off their farm and everything they owned in September of 1993. With their son Casey, they moved to Haiti in January of 1994. After a short time, their daughter Licia joined them in Haiti after graduating college in 1995. Not many years after that, their eldest daughter, Lori, relocated to Haiti as well after gaining some experience in the nursing field. Licia married Henoch in 2000, Casey married Briana in 2002, and Lori married Charles in 2003. After an extended time in the United States finishing up their education, Casey and Briana moved to Haiti in 2015. You can find additional information regarding each family on “Our Team” page.

The Zachary family has served as missionaries in the country of Haiti since 1994. After serving with Global Outreach in Titanyen, Haiti until 1997, a door opened to begin a work in the rural village of Cazale. Our work in Cazale was a project of Grace International World Outreach from 1997-2005. At that time, the state side directors of Grace International closed their organization and went to serve full time in the Philippines. In 2006, with the help of our home church, Greenbriar Community Church in Indiana, we formed our own 501c-3 non-profit organization to continue the work here in Haiti under the title Real Hope for Haiti, a non-profit corporation registered in Indiana.

Throughout all the years in Haiti, God has enabled us to serve the underserved in a variety of ways. We have attempted to strengthen communities through a grass roots community development group, reforestation projects, road building, church building, water well drilling, erosion control, sanitation, and education. We have sought to preserve communities through feeding programs, our outpatient clinic, malnutrition center, cholera treatment center, public health education, and disaster relief after various floods and earthquakes. We have sought to inspire communities through evangelism, discipleship, revivals, showing the Jesus film, distributing religious literature, and prayer.

RHFH ministry focuses on Health, Community and Faith

Health

The purpose of the clinic and rescue center is to meet physical needs as RHFH understands is a Biblical mandate. It is RHFH’s desire that any work we accomplish to meet the medical needs of an individual will allow us the opportunity to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Community

Doing good in our community is another way we share the love of Jesus. It is our commitment to serve the underserved in rural Haiti. Building community infrastructure, helping send children to school, and providing for families in need are means to bless the people of Haiti.
