End of the year report for school sponsorship

Many years ago, I believe in was in 2004, we started the school sponsorship program.  A very dear friend of ours named Carrie was in charge of the Sunday school department at her church.  She wanted the children to get involved in missions.  Together we came up with sending this sibling set of kids to school.

Each year we keep adding on kids that were in need.  They would come and tell us their stories, or a local church would come and tell us of someone in need.

We would put their stories up on the blog and YOU would respond to help these children go to school.

We begin adding high school age kids…

After the earthquake, we were able to help many of those that recovered with us.  We now have 2 that are in college this year! (this is Natalie, she lost one of her legs in the earthquake, she is in her last year of school to become a teacher)

Each year when the container arrives from the states  we have lots of unpacking to do.  Many of you collect school supplies, shoes, backpack and other items throughout the year.  These items are sorted and kept to be used during the upcoming school year.

Each child receives a back back, shoes, notebooks, supplies, pencils etc at the beginning of the school year.

Each child has a list of books that they will need for the year.  We purchase those and distrubute the books to each child.

Each child has to get measured and fitted for two uniforms every year.

We go to each school and talk with the directors and make a payment plan for the year for all the kids.  This takes a lot of work.

Four to five times a year we do updates for each of the children.  We have them come and get a picture and see how they are doing and if they have any needs.

For this school year we have 177 children on the program plus 2 adults in college.  We wanted to thank each of you that participate in this program.  Whether it is sponsoring a child, collecting supplies or sending gifts to the children-it all makes a difference to this children.

For more information about this program please see our school sponsorship page.

Thankyou for all the work you are doing for this sponsorship program. Its so important for children to get an education. and I am so happy to be able to give. Every time I see my sponsored child’s photo set on my computer desk, I cant help but smile. God bless you mightily!

Thank you!!! It is so exciting to see what God can do! Thank you for sharing this with us-for taking the PRECIOUS and FEW minutes you have to communicate with all of us out here who hunger for news. I’ll go back to packing up another bag to drop off at my church-I wonder who benefits the most from the “gathering of supplies” that I do for RHFH? I think (and thank God for the opportunity you give me) that it is me…Thanks again Licia.
