We Have a Teacher!

By: Allison

We are so excited here at Real Hope for Haiti to announce that we have a teacher lined up for the 2012-2013 school year!  Please allow us to introduce you to Meredith Benton.

Meredith is graduating from Arkansas State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She has a passion for teaching, a deep love for Haiti, and delights in serving the Lord.  As she so beautifully stated to us, she believes that this teaching position “is a convergence of three of my greatest loves.”  We believe that Meredith has been hand-picked by the Lord to join us here at Real Hope for Haiti, beginning in August.   While the Betor boys and Brianna are enjoying their summer, not quite ready to hit the books just yet, they are already anticipating being able to meet their new teacher and are looking forward to a great school year ahead.

This will not be Meredith’s first trip to Haiti.  She has already been to Haiti three times, and she is currently in the country now, working through the Arkansas Baptist Convention, doing discipleship training with Christians in the Leogane area.  Meredith’s love for the Lord, the dedication she gives to furthering His Word, and her heart for Haiti are characteristics that make us thrilled to have her join us here in Cazale.

Please join us in prayer for Meredith as she prepares to begin this great adventure at Real Hope for Haiti!

Hello! I am Meredith’s aunt and I live Atlanta, GA. I have just returned from Jonesboro, AR, where our family gathered to celebrate with Meredith as she prepares to leave to Haiti. We watched the video of the marathon runners and Davis Zachary sittin on the edge of a tractor telling about the ministry there. We laughed and we cried as we saw this place Meredith is going to.

As you have hoped and prayed for a teacher for your children, God has been preparing Meredith. I know I am partial because Meredith is my niece, but in your wildest dreams you can’t even imagine what an awesome person you are getting to be your children’s teacher. When you look at her, people see a very beautiful person, but it pales in comarison to how beautiful she is on the inside.

As I type this, with tears in my eyes, I have been up since 3:30 AM praying for Meredith and her parents as they travel to Haiti. As her family we have such mixed feelings of happiness, blessings, fear and anxiousness as we send our precious loved one to a place in our minds that is sometimes scary. But as I told Meredith, when I talk to her about Haiti, I see her light up like a Christmas tree and my fears are quieted by her excitement and drive to be with your children and the people of Cazale. I know without a doubt that God has called her there. Our family is praying for Meredith, your family, and the work you are doing there in Haiti. We love you and we don’t really know you. Please hug Meredith tight for us and know you have one of our greatest blessings living in your house…Meredith Rose Benton!
