A New Season For RHFH Missionary Licia Betor And Her Family

Licia Betor is the Director of the Rescue Center and Hope Homes for Real Hope For Haiti. In 1995, Licia stepped into the mission field in Haiti to join her parents in the work they had started. In May of this year, Licia and her husband Enoch made a difficult decision to temporarily leave Haiti to live in Indiana for season of time. They both have great hopes to return to living in Haiti when the time is right. Licia has lived more years in Haiti than in her home state of Indiana. Licia and her husband Enoch have been married for 23 years and have 4 children. Their oldest son, Carmelo, serves in the U.S. Army. Henley and Trey are young adults trying to “launch” in the United States after growing up in Haiti. Their daughter, Ameyah is 13 years old and has enrolled in Indiana Christian Academy for this school year.

The past 4 months have been filled with settling into an apartment, enrolling Ameyah in school and helping her get ready with all the back to school clothing and supplies needed. They also have been supporting Henley and Trey to getting jobs and becoming more established in life. Additionally, Licia and Enoch would like Enoch to get his residency in the event something were to happen to Licia, Enoch would be able to return to the United States to be available to their family. This will also allow him to be able to work in the USA once his work permit is approved. This can take 1 to 6 months on average. Licia continues to work full time, remotely for RHFH.

Ameyah’s first day of school in the USA

The RHFH board of directors supports this decision for Licia to return to Indiana. We value Licia and the decades she has committed to sharing God’s love for the Haitian people. She will continue in her role with Real Hope For Haiti during this time. Additional Haitian staff have been hired to handle office work and forward the information needed for Licia to do her job.

Three important points:

-We are excited for new opportunities for Licia to meet with churches and supporters in the local area and to share more about the situation in Haiti and the ministry work at Real Hope For Haiti. If you are in or near Anderson, Indiana and would like to have Licia share with your church or another group, please contact Licia Betor at licia@realhopeforhaiti.org

-We would love if you would join us in prayer for Licia, Enoch and their children. Pray for Ameyah as she adjusts from home schooling in Haiti to the structure of classes in Indiana. Pray for Enoch’s paperwork to be processed quickly so he may begin working to support his family. Pray for Trey as he works and saves for a vehicle so he can transport himself to work. Pray for Henley that he would excel at his current job. Pray for protection for Carmelo as he serves our country.

-Pray that the financial needs of the family will be met during this transition back to living in the U.S. There are several ways you can give to Licia and her family.

Thank you for your continued interest in supporting Real Hope For Haiti’s ministry to provide hope in this life and the life to come.

A personal note from Licia:

Thank you for taking the time to read our update. Although we miss Haiti dearly, we believe that we are meant to be here for now. Our children needed us, and we needed to be present for them as they adjusted to life in the USA. With Haiti’s instability, we are also focused on completing Enoch’s residency, which will allow him to travel more easily and be with our children in case something would happen to me. We are grateful to the Lord for His provision since our arrival. Ameyah’s school fees were covered, and both boys found jobs. Friends and family generously provided furniture and household items for our new home too. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us thus far. I am looking forward to spending my first Christmas in 28 years in the USA.

As we wait for Enoch’s work permit approval, we kindly ask for some additional financial assistance to help us in the coming months. We would not ask if we were not in need. If you would like to send gift cards or a check, please email me directly for our address.
