He Is Coming Back — Are You Ready?
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
The New Testament reminds us more than 300 times that Jesus is coming again. This isn’t a small theme in Scripture—it is a promise woven throughout God’s Word.
And when He comes, God will turn our tragedies into triumphs, our poverty into riches, our pain into glory, and our defeat into victory. Amen!
I’m sharing this to encourage you today. A person can survive about three months without food, three days without water, three minutes without air—but only a few seconds without hope. The good news is this: we have hope in Jesus.
1. Be Alert
In Mark 13:32–37, Jesus tells us to “watch and pray.” He says to be ready, to be on guard, to stay alert.
In Matthew 24:42–44, He compares His return to a thief in the night—coming at a time least expected.
We are called to live with constant expectation, eagerly watching for His return. Preparation matters. Scripture says the Lord is coming for a bride without spot or wrinkle (Ephesians 5:27).
So how do we prepare?
First, by being saved through the blood of Jesus.
Second, by studying God’s Word and living according to it every day.
Are you ready?
2. Be Active
In Acts 1:9–11, after Jesus ascended into heaven, the angels told the disciples that He would return in the same way. But they were not told to stand around staring at the sky.
We are to be ready—but not idle.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:46 that blessed is the servant who is found faithfully doing his work when the master returns. We prepare for His coming by sharing the Good News and living out our faith.
It is time to stop playing church—and start being the Church.
He is coming back. The question is not if—but when. And the greater question is this:
Are you watching?
Are you working?
Are you ready?
