Staff Spotlight-Chilophe

Since 2021, Chilophe has been of working with Real Hope for Haiti. He helps the mechanic with vehicle repairs and also does driving for RHFH. He is grateful for his job and appreciates the opportunity to work and provide for himself.

Both of Chilophe’s parents have passed away, and he is one of nine children. He does not have children of his own and currently shares a small, one-room home with a friend. The home is made of rocks and has a tin roof.

Chilophe’s work takes him throughout the RHFH property. Every Friday, he collects and burns trash from the different areas of RHFH. He also delivers clean, treated water to places that do not have running water. Large containers and seven-gallon jugs are filled with water and transported to the areas where it is needed.

His work has not always been easy. In 2023, while working on a vehicle engine, the engine fell and badly crushed one of his fingers. He experienced significant pain and needed wound care for several months. Thankfully, his finger healed, and he is still able to use his hand for his work today.

Chilophe is thankful for his job because it allows him to support himself and meet his daily needs. He enjoys his work and believes it is an important part of serving RHFH and the community.

Chilophe is also a Christian and attends church in his village. He is grateful for the opportunity to work, serve others, and continue moving forward each day.
